Claudia Marseille

I am a mixed media encaustic artist incorporating my own photographs and oil paints into my work.  I love encaustic painting for its direct, physical and alchemical process, for its potential to create layers and textures, almost like an archaeological dig. Each layer is fused through melting to the layer below. This process can be unpredictable though, and sometimes unexpected results can occur. This forces me to be flexible and to remain open to the myriad possibilities that this medium allows. I live in Oakland, CA, and have been represented by the SeagerGray gallery in Mill Valley for the past twenty years.
