Larain Matheson

I’ve been working in encaustic medium for about 12 years, and am captivated by this ancient medium using beeswax. I am always connecting with the energy of the 4 elements, air, earth, fire and water,  using realism or abstracting it from nature. The process takes many shapes as I fuse the paint layer by layer.I received an M.F.A. from U.C.L.A. where I worked with Richard Diebenkorn. I am influenced by the architecture of the natural world, as he was. My work is in many collections throughout the US, and exhibited in the Bay Area. I live on the coast of northern Ca. and am a member, and exhibit at the Discovery Gallery and the Dolphin Gallery in Gualala. I exhibit at the Studio Discovery Tour yearly , and invite you to see my work in Aug./Sept.
