Kristin Kobey

I'm an artist, tinkerer & outdoor enthusiast living in Alameda, CA. Years ago at an open studio filled with tons of art I connected with a complex, layered, nostalgic painting with "beeswax" on its exhibit label. Curiosity simmered until about four years ago when I learned the technique of encaustic painting... I've been infatuated since. Encaustic medium provides me the ability to layer, embed, and play with texture and transparency in experimental ways that help me explore themes of memory and incorporate elements of nature in my art.
